Two years ago me and friends went to Kerala, we visited Kerala backwaters , Beaches , Zoo , Some famous temples but we couldn't manage to see Jatayu Earth's Center Nature Park. This year we had a plan for Kerala for a few days and we had decided that we would go to see Jatayu Statue. After Jatayu we were planning to go for bowl boating at Adavi Eco Tourism , Konni. But by then it was evening till we went from Jatayu To Adavi and we couldn't see it.
Jatayu Nature Park holds the distinction of having the world’s largest bird sculpture , park project worth ₹100 crore. The Jatayu sculpture measures 200 feet long, 150 feet wide, 70 feet in height and occupies 15,000 square feet.
You can reach the sculpture by Cable car or by walk, there are 826 steps at the Jatayu Earth’s Center and we climbed 826 steps to go up. We chose the walk , because we wanted to explore the beauty of the park and we were not in a hurry, we had enough time. There are many scenic views to take photos, there are also benches where you can take a break . We saved some money by choosing the walk, then with same money we had lunch . There is food court above park, food there was also good.
STORY BEHIND JATAYU
The park is named after the mythical bird from Ramayana — Jatayu, was a demi-god who had the form of a vulture. According to the Ramayana , Ravana abducted Sita to Lanka. Jatayu had tried to rescue Sita from Ravana, he fought fearlessly with Ravana, but as Jatayu was very old, Ravana soon defeated him. Rama and Lakshmana while on the search for Sita, met dying Jatayu, who informed them of the battle with Ravana and told them that Ravana had headed South.
Statue for Women's Honour and Safety
Sculptor Rajiv Anchal says, “Jatayu died protecting a woman's honour and that is what the sculpture stands for.
Pandavan Para
Before Going to Jatayu we went to see Pandav Para rock. Locals believe that the Pandavas, during their exile, resided at Pandavanpara and the pandavas used to offer worship at the nearby temples. It was very beautiful and we took lots of photos there.
